I am a psychologist and human-computer interaction scientist. I have been Professor of Human-centered Design at the Hochschule der Medien (HdM) since 2002 and heading the User Experience Research Lab (UXL). I am spokesperson for the Information Experience Design Research Group (IXD). From 2020 to 2022, I also worked as a guest and adjunct professor at the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN). Since 2023, I have been coordinating the ‚Mittelstand-Digital Innovation Hub Focus Human‘ funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Policy (BMWK) and am part of the European research project TheiaXR (Making the invisible visible for off-highway machinery by conveying eXtended Reality technologies). The focus of my research is on designing technologies for positive user experiences in order to promote well-being in future leisure and work contexts.
